The readjustment project began on February 1, 2010 and is a three-year collaborative initiative between businesses in Trollhättan, Vänersborg, Uddevalla, Dals Ed, Färgelanda, Åmål and Tanum. The goal is to find new ways to secure more jobs by providing strategic business advice and through attracting start-ups to the communities.
BRC Sweden is the agent for the Italian company Bogetti Romano Cherasco Gas Equipment, the world leader in biogas systems and components, and already has a close development cooperation with Saab. So when BRC Sweden began to consider a biogas car conversion facility, Trollhättan was one of the alternatives. Lars Hjalmarson played an important part in the efforts.
"Gothenburg and Malmö were also part of the talks, so we needed to act fast. For example, Trollhättans Tomt realtors worked extremely hard looking for suitable premises. Operations are anticipated to be up and running in the Hajum area by February next year. Saab personnel will be sub contracted in and initially 2,500 four-wheel-drive Subaru Legacy and Outbacks will be converted annually.
BRC Sweden and the Campadre online shopping club are the biggest single establishments in the area that have set up with the assistance of the re-adjustment project.
“Every new job we help create is a success for us and our seven municipalities. Symbolically, BRC Sweden is an especially important start-up for Trollhättan as a car building town and eco-town," notes Lars Hjalmarson.
