Connecting Europe: new EU trunk transportation network
The commission has adopted a proposal to transform the existing patchwork of roads, railroads, airports and canals into a Trans-European transport network (TEN-T). Bottlenecks will be removed in the new network, infrastructure will be upgraded and cross-border transportation simplified bringing improvements for passengers and companies throughout the EU.
The disparate means of transportation will interlink in better ways and help reduce the transportation sector's carbon dioxide emissions, thus contributing to EU climate targets.
