Exciting program for Automotive Forum in Gothenburg
The Automotive Forum conference will be held at Lindholmen Science Park in Gothenburg May 30-31, 2012.
We asked Malin Norén, Business Area Manager at Automotive Sweden, what Automotive Forum is?
“Automotive Sweden arranges a number of annual conferences of varying sizes. Together with our partners (Ernst & Young, AB Volvo, Volvo Cars, Scania, Saab och Semcon) we now aim to carry out something a little bigger that puts west Sweden on the map and provides businesses, academia and the public sector the opportunity to meet. The conference aims to inspire, provide a picture of the current situation and how companies see the future, and be a good networking venue."

You´ve chosen "Way Forward" as this year´s theme; why?
“The idea is not to get bogged down in the present-day situation but to look ahead and try to get our speakers to make predictions about the future. Among others we have a speaker from the Copenhagen Institute for Future Studies who will talk about how megatrends will affect the transportation sector.  We´ll also hear about how major automotive purchasers such as Hertz regard car pooling, future fuels and more besides."

Are the speakers booked yet?
“The speaker list looks very interesting. The idea behind the program is that the automotive industry is multi-disciplinary in many respects. So we will get to listen to automotive manufacturers, transportation purchasers, suppliers, banks, politicians and other industries that influence the vehicle industry.

To name a few I can say that Johan Ronnestam will attend next year too — he´s the speaker with the best ratings from two of our latest conferences. Carsten Beck from the Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies will tell us about their view of how megatrends will affect us. Annika Winsth, Chief Economist at Nordea fBank is on the program, and then there are representatives from Volvo Cars, AB Volvo, Scania and Saab and several more automotive suppliers.  Ulf Wickbom will be one of the moderators. So things are looking good and we´re really pleased with the program so far."

What does the program look like?
“We run from lunchtime to lunchtime and start at 12:30 on May 30. We intend to mix automotive manufacturers and suppliers with banks, inspirational speakers, foreign guests and politicians. It´s a mix that makes the program unique. There are a great many conferences where an industry talks to itself, but we want to succeed with something different — we want to provide something new that inspires and takes a different approach. We also want a good mix in the audience, to provide valuable networking opportunities for everyone. We want to create something more than just another conventional conference. We want to create a forum for new industries, meetings and people."

How many conference delegates are you hoping for?
“When we held a similar conference in June of 2011 we had capacity for 350 people. It was fully booked and there was even a wait list. We hope to arouse the same interest next year and then we won´t be limited by capacity, but between 300 and 400 is a good number of people as then there are good opportunities for networking and discussions, which are two of the conference objectives."
