Fiat factory to remain in Turin
Fiat won the battle over the Miafiori factory in Turin. The employees voted in favor of the Fiat management's demands for continued production at the factory. The factory will now be renovated to accommodate integrated Chrysler and Fiat vehicle production.
Factory employees agreed to demands for increased productivity and flexible work rules that limit strikes. Breaks were shortened and sick leave decreased. If the employees had voted against these measures, Fiat's VD Sergio Marchionne planned to move production to the US and Canada.
