The Geneva Motor Show was the world premiere for the new i40, a car designed and constructed at Hyundai's research and development center in Rüsselsheim, Germany. "It was also completely adapted for Europe, with drivelines, equipment and technology demanded by, and customized for, the European market," says Hall. This car is part of Hyundai's new "New Thinking - New Possibilities" concept. "Quality is of vital importance for us, and will be even in the future. That is why we are able to offer such long warranties and "no surprise" service agreements. Our "Five Year Triple Care" package, which comprises a five-year new car warranty (without mileage limits), five-year roadside assistance and five-year service assistance, is offered on all of our new cars, and we are very proud of that fact."
How do you see the future?
We have prototypes of both fuel cells and electric vehicles. We have all the technology you would expect from a major OEM. But so far, it is our belief that customers want fuel-efficient combustion engines. At 143g, we are currently under the average on our entire vehicle fleet in Europe, but our goal for 2012 is 130g and by 2020, our emissions will be down to 95g.
