Lindholmen Science Park is an excellent example of initiatives whose aim is to collate the know-how and expertise available among the nation´s companies, authorities, universities and colleges. Scania´s aim with the partnership is to contribute to Lindholmen Science Park´s continued development as a national hub for the coordination of research and development within e.g. transportation efficiency and traffic safety. “This will benefit all parties and strengthen Sweden´s international competitiveness," says Scania´s Head of R&D, Per Hallberg.
“This is a great breakthrough for us," says Niklas Wahlberg, CEO at Lindholmen Science Park. We have had several joint projects with Scania for some time, and it´s extremely gratifying that they´re boosting their participation through a physical presence. In addition to the R&D collaborations with Chalmers and the University of Gothenburg we have also begun working together with the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm in order to bring national expertise together and increase Sweden´s global competitiveness.
Scania develops and manufactures all components of strategic and competitive importance itself or in strategic cooperations with other leading players. The company´s R&D is concentrated to Sweden, where approximately 3,000 employees work at the Scania Technical Centre in Södertälje. The work embraces the entire product development chain from the documentation of customer requirements, external functions and competitors to basic research initiatives, design work, customer clinics, long-term testing, quality follow-up and environmental actions.
