Spin-off from Volvo growing strong
Wall-to-wall with Volvo's engine plant in Skövde, you'll find EuroMaint Industry. Since their spin-off from the Volvo Group, turnover at EuroMaint has skyrocketed. They are now even joining their customers in an overseas expansion. "Of course Volvo's support was important in the beginning, but the secret of our success is that we have had a clear strategy and have maintained it throughout the journey," says Nicklas Falk, CEO of EuroMaint Industry AB.
From 1935 to 2000, what is today known as EuroMaint Industry was a part of the Volvo Group. In 2000, they formed Euromation, a company that was largely owned by Volvo. Euromation handled the maintenance and development of the company's production equipment. When the previous owner embarked on a business development phase, the door was opened for investors. In 2005, the maintenance sector of the company was acquired by EuroMaint and EuroMaint Industry was created. The spin-off from Volvo has greatly benefited both Volvo and EuroMaint Industry. "Volvo is good at developing vehicles and engines," says Falk. "We are good at developing production processes. . The fact that we are now also active in other sectors creates good synergies and enables us to provide our customers with unique expertise and cutting-edge technology."

From drawing board to production line product
In recent years, EuroMaint Industry has developed its proficiency in many areas, including the manufacturing sector, and is now able to handle the entire value chain from prototype to production line product. Of the company's 340 employees, about 200 work in production sector-based operations. "We can help our customers with everything from maintaining existing machinery to developing new equipment," says Falk. One of the areas we see great potential in is IPV (In Process Verification), which means that companies can test-run their product and quality assure it right from the manufacturing phase." One of the companies utilizing EuroMaint Industry technology is AB Volvo. In 2008, they invested in a brand new concept for reducing
emissions in their factories while simultaneously improving function testing of new engines. Using this new technology, emissions from the factory are reduced by up to 85%. "The fact that our solutions can contribute to both green development and more effective production is something we are of course very proud of," adds Nicklas.

Strengthening international position
Despite the recession in the sector, EuroMaint has managed to stay afloat and make it out of the financial crisis relatively unscathed. "When the crisis hit, the first to go were our contracted personnel, which hit us pretty hard," says Magnus Ericson, Communications Manager at EuroMaint Industry. But we managed to get in a lot of work from other sectors that weren't hit as hard by the recession, such as the power/heating and paper and pulp industries."
With the recession now behind them, the company is aiming to follow its customers in the manufacturing sector as they expand abroad. The head office, however, will remain in Skövde. "Skövde is an excellent base for us," explains Falk. "There is plenty of expertise and skilled personnel here and we can guarantee high quality in everything we do here in Skövde. Our global expansion plan entails both following our customers as they enter foreign markets and attracting new customers."
