Swedish Engineering at IAA
For the first time a Swedish engineering company — Semcon — participated in the IAA in Frankfurt, the world's biggest auto show. Semcon has grown to significance on the German market and today several German automakers are Semcon customers. Their latest order concerns engine development and has a value of almost SEK 90 million.
The project will run until 2012 with an option to extend. Semcon has been directing its efforts to the German market for several years and has succeeded in gaining entry to transmission and engine development projects. Even though the customers are in Germany, much of the work is carried out at Semcon in Sweden.

And it isn´t just engine development and transmissions that the company wants to exhibit; at IAA Semcon demonstrated that the future will become more and more digitalized, and the app they've developed in collaboration with Volvo Car Corporation received a lot of attention.

-  "Swedish companies that collaborate with the majority of the world´s biggest automotive companies are not exactly thick on the ground, and it´s very unusual to see Swedish service companies at IAA," says Stefan Ohlsson, Automotive R&D Director at Semcon.

Semcon is not only active in Germany. Earlier this year they received an order to set up the entire aftermarket chain for a Chinese automaker. It was their experience in working with some of the world's biggest automakers and the fact that they work globally that led to the order.

Their participation in IAA shows that Semcon is a global player to reckon with. The company is putting great effort into Germany and it has shown it has the muscle at be one of the heavy players when it comes to cutting edge engineering.
